We are happy to spotlight long time team member Jill McKendrick. Currently a prep cook at the Shack, she has worked for Parkhurst Dining at both Eat'n Park and Saint Vincent College. Jill enjoys working with her fellow team members and actually won the 2024 team member Halloween costume contest with co-worker and friend Tami.
When not at work, Jill enjoys going to concerts with friends, watching Steelers games with husband Randy and spending time with their dogs.

Socrates Polakovsky, Catering
We are excited to highlight a team member from our amazing catering department. Socrates has worked for Parkhurst at SVC for three years. Previously he worked as a chef at places such as Helen's at Seven Springs and Robokyo. His favorite foods at SVC are the delicious hors d'oeuvres catering chef Mike creates.
Socrates enjoys his work, especially the opportunity to engage with the monks, professors and visiting religious scholars. Outside of work, he likes to spend time with his wife.

Kathie Sheffler, Seminary Dining
Shoutout to Kathie, a super star team member in seminary dining. Kathie, who worked as a CNA for 33 years before joining SVC dining in August 2024, absolutely loves her job. She says interacting with the seminarians is the best part because they are such great people. And the feeling is certainly mutual. In our dining survey, they sang her praises for her kindness and work excellence.
When she isn't at work, Kathie likes to spend her free time cooking and baking. One of her specialties is her ribbon-winning Dutch Apple pie. She loves to read, go thrifting, and hang out with her cat, Tink. Kathie is also a proud grandma to her grandsons.

Alex Cruz, Community Center
Our Spotlight this week is on Alex Cruz, Saint Vincent student and SVC Dining team member. Since he's graduating May 10th, Alex is closing out his time with Dining, and we'll definitely miss him.
Originally from Newark, NJ, he has been a Team Member for 2 1/2 years. Working with such kind people is his favorite part of the job. Alex will especially miss kitchen supervisor Marty, who has been like a "work dad".
When he's not working or studying, Alex's favorite thing to do is go fishing with his girlfriend Rachel, and study jujitsu. Shortly after graduation, he is excited to head to Texas to be near family and start his own detailing business. We wish him great success!

This week, we highlight our awesome daylight cashier! Candi, who worked as a caregiver prior to coming to SVC Dining, has been a valued team member for over a year. She loves her job and says the wonderful students make her day. Judging from the positive comment cards, the feeling is mutual!
Candi enjoys spending time with her fiancé Jimmy and is a busy mom to kids Natasha, Terrance, Chris, and baby Skarlit. She's also a proud grandma to 3 year-old Grayson. Candi and her family's favorite way to spend a day is outdoors, going on walks and taking Skarlit to the park.

Say hello to another one of our fabulous team members, Michele Andiorio. A server and cashier at the Community Center, Michele previously worked as a caregiver. She's been with SVC Dining for almost four months. The best part of her job? She says it's the awesome students!
Outside of work, Michele likes to spend time with her family, including her boyfriend and two kids. What brings the biggest smile to her face are her six grandkids. Whether it's throwing around a football together or just hanging out, nothing brings Michele joy like her grandkids.

Abbey Hudspath - Community Center
This week, we recognize one of the awesome members of our food prep team. Abbey (pictured here, right, with her daughter, sister & niece) has been with SVC Dining for about a year. Prior to that, she was a stay-at-home-mom to her pride and joy, three-year-old daughter Addeline. Abbey likes working in prep and always brings a positive attitude to work.
At home, Abbey loves spending time with her fiancé Jason, Addeline, and their cats, Rory and Layla. She's also a talented artist who enjoys painting, jewelry-making, and designing custom mini journals. Abbey celebrated a wonderful milestone recently - a year of sobriety! One day at a time.

Glenn Oliver, Community Center & Shack
Today, we're highlighting another fantastic team member. Glenn has been working at the Shack for 18 months and recently started at the Community Center training to be a sous chef. Prior to Parkhurst, he honed his culinary skills at the Manor Grille for 12 years.
At home, his attention turns to baking, especially cookies and cakes, and he also cans homemade jellies and salsas. Outside his culinary interests, Glenn loves camping, participating every summer in Pennsic, a large-scale camping event centered around pre-17th century history and culture. Our catering admin Jen has been in the hospitality industry for 12 years and a member of our SVC Dining team for 18 months. Jen says the best parts of her job are the friendly people and the opportunity to be creative. Her favorite Community Center food is Deion's pizza and anything Gordon cooks on Grill Station. Fun fact: Jen's fiance Kevin also works for SVC Dining, and they share sons Eyan, Evan & Eli. This week, we're highlighting Abby, a hard-working senior Early Childhood Education student who works at the Shack. Abby also works in the CC and bookstore, is Bearcat Buddies President, and is a team leader for the Activities Programming Board. This busy student, whose younger brother is an SVC freshman, loves to dance and read when not working and play with her two Australian shepherds when she's home. Abby says Saint Vincent "has given me so many opportunities to meet and work with so many kind people."

An SVC Dining team member for the past two years, Gordon's interest in cooking started with an elementary school home-ec class, and he's loved it since.
